There is no better symbol for the medieval knight than that of the crusader. We could go on into a discourse about the ethics, politics and morals of the crusades themselves, but many much brighter minds have covered that topic quite well (well, we sort of did go into it in the history of the crusades on the History tab, but only in a Strongblade sort of way). It still stands that the crusader has been romanticized throughout literature and the Silver Screen many times over, most recently with the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" starring perennial sword swinger Orlando Bloom.
This arming sword represents the honor, dignity and strength of the medieval knight. It is a wonderfully crafted sword that feels absolutely perfect in your hand. A padded and ridged leather grip gives excellent traction for the hand and a more ergonomic feel. The high-carbon steel blade is built with a powerful double-fuller design that adds both strength and beauty. The chromed steel cross-guard has been buffed to a mirror shine.
But the true soul of this blade is in the pommel. Similar in style to an Ewart Oakeshott Type I pommel, it is deeply etched with the cross symbol that so defined the holy crusaders. The cross is engraved into the center of the chromed steel pommel, and ringed by 8 brass studs.
If we can be honest for a moment (and we can, because this is our website =P) We werent sure about this sword when we first saw images of it. But once we saw one in person we were floored. It really is a gorgeous sword and the large pommel gives it an excellent balance. If you buy this sword, you'll be happy. We guarantee it.
