So, you're looking for something a little different, eh? Something to set your swept-hilt rapier apart from all the others? Well, then set your eyes upon Flametongue, the Flamberge rapier.

Those undulating ("wavy" for you peasants) waves in the blade were originally made to help in parrying, but they give the blade quite a bit of flash and impressiveness. It's a little tricky to forge these swords, but the end result is certainly worth it.

Supposedly, the waves also allowed the swordsman to tear nastier, more lethal holes into their opponents. The actual truth to this is disputed, but if I had a choice of being stabbed by a straight blade or stabbed by a flamberge, I'd run screaming from the room. When they caught me and held me down and asked again, I would choose the straight blade in a heartbeat.

The Flametongue is made from our standard high-carbon steel, polished to a mirror shine. The looping steel swept hilt is nickeled and polished and, if we say so ourselves, quite dazzling. A braided-wire-covered wooden grip makes for a comfortable hold, and a nickled pommel provides a slight counter-balance to the historically accurate point-weighted blade.

The weapon comes with a custom, steel-accented, leather-wrapped sheath and a small bottle of oil (included with all of our high-carbon weapons). It's a perfect weapon to wow your costumed entourage or simply for displaying in your home in tribute to the fiery swords of history.

The flintlock pistol was the greatest advance in pirating since the wooden leg. The concept was fairly simple: gunpowder was stuffed into the barrel. A lead ball, usually wrapped in some sort of fabric, was stuffed in. A hammer was then pulled back half-way and left that way until the gun was ready to fire. The pistol technically was not meant to fire in this position, although sometimes they were known to go off half-cocked (and yes, that is the origin of that expression). When the gun was ready to be fired, the hammer was pulled back all the way and the trigger was squeezed.
