Short and simple. You have a small to medium sword. You want to display it. Here you go. It's made from beautiful grained hardwood, polished to a sheen. All the necessary hardware (screws and mounts) come with the plaque.

It's easy to customize for your sword. There are a ton of holes on the back of the plaque (they don't go all the way through, silly). Simply line up the sword on the back of the plaque where you would like it to hang from. Mark the holes, then drill them all the way through. Put the mounting hardware on the front and back, then hang the plaque. And since you've done all that work, you might as well hang the sword too.

This plaque is ideal for gladii, short swords, and medium swords of all types.

Although the term rapier has become synonymous with any narrow-bladed sword (particularly those with fancy hilts), the term rapier actually applied to only a select few types of swords. Rapiers were narrow (usually one and a quarter inches wide), quite long, fairly heavy, and usually had only a slight edge on them. The extremely long length of the rapiers made them a bit heavy and cumbersome, not at all the Errol Flynn or Zorro-type small-swords that most people think of.
