Tinker Pierce Battle-Ready War Sword

Marquenching® or martempering of steel consists of quenching the steel in hot oil at 150-175°C, and holding it in the quenching medium until the temperature of the workpiece is essentially uniform and equal to the temperature of the oil. This minimizes or eliminates distortion of the workpiece which occurs from unequal transformation rates normally found in conventional quenching.

Welcome to four feet of steel terror. That's right. 47.5 inches of battle-ready nightmares for your enemies. It is, quite possibly, the finest greatsword that we offer. And the answer to our most heartfelt prayers. Behold, the Tinker Pierce Great Sword of War. Behold and worship.

This weapon is a magnificent piece of steel. Long and beautiful, with a three-foot blade and a massive 11-inch grip. Oh, and did we mention that it's under four pounds? Yeah, we couldn't believe it either.

The Great Sword of War is designed purely as a cutting sword. Unlike the others in our Tinker Pierce line, it does not come in a blunted version. The 11” grip provides excellent leverage and lends an amazing balance to the sword, a balance that meets Tinker’s demanding standards. The blade is forged in 5160 steel and marquenched to HRc50-52. The hilt is secured by Tinker’s signature recessed sleeve-mounting system, which provided secure retention and easy hilt tightening, using the Allen wrench provided.

If you're looking for a massive cutting sword that can excel against heavy targets, then look no more. Close your eyes and rejoice, for the Great Sword of War is here.

About Tinker Pierce Swords:
Michael "Tinker" Pierce is one of the most renowned swordmakers in the world today. He has written numerous books on swords and swordmaking and his custom swords are coveted world-wide. He is, to put it another way, The Man.

We've been able to acquire a new line of fully-functional European swords designed by Tinker Pierce. Each weapon is forged under his guidance and supervision. Each weapon is built in much the same way as his custom pieces and must meet his stringent specifications. We actually have to fight him and his workers for some of these swords. That's how attached to them they become. It sucks because we usually lose two or three of our own employees every time they go over there. But we will stop at nothing to get you the best sword we can.

Tinker has developed these matching longswords to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast. They are available in two versions: a sharp version, made for cutting, and a blunted version for theatrical sparring and martial arts training. The swords meet Tinker's exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed, or to customize the sword. he grips are cord wrapped and leather covered wood and tapered for a comfortable grip. Each sword is supplied with a leather covered wood scabbard with metal throat and chape.

The quality that you get from these swords is unheard of at these prices. If you've been looking for a high-end sword but could not afford one before, we highly recommend these battle-ready, beautifully balanced and gorgeous swords. Please, don't make our employees have died in vain.

The flintlock pistol was the greatest advance in pirating since the wooden leg. The concept was fairly simple: gunpowder was stuffed into the barrel. A lead ball, usually wrapped in some sort of fabric, was stuffed in. A hammer was then pulled back half-way and left that way until the gun was ready to fire. The pistol technically was not meant to fire in this position, although sometimes they were known to go off half-cocked (and yes, that is the origin of that expression). When the gun was ready to be fired, the hammer was pulled back all the way and the trigger was squeezed.
