A mighty warrior and ruler of men was buried with his ship and belongings in Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, England. The leader, a possible Nordic King of England, was entombed wearing a helmet like this.

This style of helmet evokes the Viking Gjermundbu "Spectacle" helmet, a helmet with large metal plates that protect the eyes. Only, the Sutton Hoo actually has the "spectacles" carved out of a metal faceplate. Our version of this helmet has the eyeholes and edges of the faceplate lined with brass, and features brass "brows," nose piece, and crest.

That the helmet is majestic, there is no doubt, but it is also creepy as all hell. Just the thing to both impress and intimidate at the same time. The mysterious look to this piece makes it perfect for displaying among a collection or by itself. The term "conversation piece" doesn't even begin to describe the interesting nature of this helmet.

The flaps on the sides of the helmet are made from the same 18-gauge steel, attached with leather strips to allow the flaps to swing freely. Strong steel rivets hold the various brass trimmings against the helmet. The back of this helmet sweeps majestically outward and downward, protecting the neck and tops of the shoulder blades.

This helmet is actual size, and can be worn with a helmet liner (not included: can be made fairly easily). Otherwise, it comes with a high quality display stand made of polished wood.
