This is a beautifully handcrafted bastard(hand and a half) sword from Valiant Armoury. . The overall length of the sword is 44.5 inches. It features a 35 inch spring steel blade sharp enough to be used for cutting. The very well balanced sword weighs only 3lbs 2 oz. Included with the sword is leather covered wood scabbard. The detail design on the leather work of the scabbard is beautiful. Also included is a leather sword belt.

Note about Sword Use
This is designed as an authentic battle ready sword. As such it should not to be used in theatrical-style reenacting . You should not beat your sword against another sword. Swords are subject to the laws of Physics. No matter how strong the steel is in any sword or edged collectible, it can nick or chip when struck against another sword or something hard. While this sword may be used for soft target cutting only i.e. tamashigiri (the cutting of mats), they should only be used for that purpose by well trained professionals. Never perform cutting exercises without proper training and supervision.

When Strongblade refers to a "Battle Sword," we are referring to most European medieval swords with blades longer than 35” or so. These type of swords included hand-and-a-half swords (sometimes refered to as Bastard Swords) and the big two-handed swords. Real battle swords had blades well in excess of this, and, in fact, a 35" sword was considered a bit skimpy for fighting skirmishes. But for home use and light sparring, a 36" blade is fairly long.
