Ever consider buying a $1,500 sword? Yeah, did you look at your bank account and laugh after you did? Did you sigh and burst into tears? well, dry your eyes, weepy. We can't sell you a $1,500 sword for less than $500, but we *can* offer you the next best thing.

Presenting, the Valiant Armoury Castile Arming Sword. Designed by Christian Fletcher, maker of $1,500 (and up) swords. The Castile may not be the same as his higher end swords, but it includes many of the same features and has his personal seal of approval. Not something he'd give without knowing for certain that this was a top-notch weapon.

The Castile is hand-forged, tempered and battle-ready. The balance on this weapon is fantastic and the construction is tighter than Michael Vick on his first day in prison. Technically, the sword is Type X, if you follow Ewart Oakeshott's classification system (which you should).

The blade is a hand-forged, 1060 high-carbon steel, and it is a thing of beauty. Flawless and crisp. The grip is made from hardwood with a nifty shrunken-leather-over-cords wrap. The entire sword is put together solidly and held in place with a clever sunken bolt system that won't interfere with your maneuvers.

And have you taken a look at that leather scabbard? Talk about craftsmanship! Talk about awesomeness! The scabbard and belt are included in the price. Can you believe it? Why are you still reading this? Buy it! Buy it! These things blow out of stock faster than you can sneeze, so grab one now, before you start crying again.

The flintlock pistol was the greatest advance in pirating since the wooden leg. The concept was fairly simple: gunpowder was stuffed into the barrel. A lead ball, usually wrapped in some sort of fabric, was stuffed in. A hammer was then pulled back half-way and left that way until the gun was ready to fire. The pistol technically was not meant to fire in this position, although sometimes they were known to go off half-cocked (and yes, that is the origin of that expression). When the gun was ready to be fired, the hammer was pulled back all the way and the trigger was squeezed.
