All right, time for an update. First, we can finally say that we are making this sword in a partnership with Paul Chen and the Hanwei Forge. So, you can bet that it'll be a fantastic sword (and will be worth that much more as a collectible).
Second, we will not be including a belt or scabbard with the sword as first reported. Instead, we have dropped the price by about $50 and will sell the scabbard separately later on. We wish we could have sold it with the scabbard, but it would have been a little too expensive, especially for those who do not need a scabbard.
And third, we are offering a steep discount on a stand for those who buy the sword. It's the least we could do. We'll have more information on that in a couple of days.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled product information page.
Tristan's sword is one of the most elegant, most
ingenious looking fantasy weapons of all time. Part
cleaver, part falcata, part Turkish Yatagan, and part
seax (oh, it's seaxy all right). This sword really
eludes firm categorization. What we do know is that it
is a perfect fusion of Victorian elegance and fantasy
whomping power. And we know something else. we're
making one of the finest movie sword replicas of all
time.
That's right. We said it, and we'll say it again. This
will be one of the finest movie sword replicas of all
time. What makes it so darn great, you may ask? Well,
I'm glad you may have asked that, because I'm here to
tell you.
For starters, Strongblade is producing this sword with the help of Paul Chen and the Hanwei Forge. That's right. This will be a Paul Chen Sword. For those of you who aren't familiar with Paul Chen (all two of you out there) he is one of the best swordmakers in the world. Yes, the world.
The sword is basically being crafted from the inside out, with
special attention to the metal used, the tempering and
the tang. It will be made from a rugged,
beautifully tempered high-carbon steel and it will
feature a full tang. And when we say full tang, we
mean the textbook definition of full tang (for those
of you who left your textbook in your locker, a true
full-tang weapon is one in which the tang actually
forms the grip, with wood or other material bolted
directly to the tang for comfort).
Tristan's sword will come with a numbered certificate of authenticity
(there will be only 1,000 of these swords ever made,
worldwide) and a small polishing kit (some metal polish to
help remove the oil from the blade and a microfiber
cloth to give it the shine it deserves).
We're looking at a Spring release for this sword
(hopefully in April or early May), but we are expecting the first
wave to be mostly sold out when it arrives. We'll be
providing more information as the sword moves further
into production, but these are the facts as we know
them so far. Pre-order now to ensure that you are one
of the 1,000 people in the entire world to own
Tristan's Sword from the movie Stardust.
