In a land where murder was seen as a career move and anyone could be thrown into the gladiatorial arena for percieved wrongs, it's no wonder that Roman citizens and nobles alike carried daggers. Many of the ordinary citizens (plebes) carried non-descript shanks for protection, but the upper classes viewed their daggers or knives as a fashion accessory as well as a means of defense. Their daggers would have been a bit more elaborate. Julius Caesar, dictator for life and famed military general would have carried an even more impressive blade; something very stylish, but extremely effective. Something like this.

The Conquerer's dagger is made from a durable cast metal alloy that has been extremely weathered and aged. The damascus-style blade has the apperance of having been forged in ancient Rome. Etched deeply into the blade are the famous words of Caesar after his swift and successful battle with the troublemaker Pharnaces: "Veni, Vidi, Vinci"; I came, I saw, I conquered.

This is a gorgeous dagger, if we may be allowed to say so (and we are, because we own this site and can say what we please. So there.). It's quite long for a dagger (17" overall), with a dazzling, heavily embossed, 6-and-a half-inch hilt. The hilt is engraved with ornately crossed metal straps that travel the length. On the flared pommel is a sculpted dafodil, the symbol of death and the underwold (where Caesar or any dagger-bearer hoped to send their opponent). The dagger comes with a matte sheath of high quality, polished wood.
