Tinker Pierce Battle-Ready Two-Handed Sword

Marquenching or martempering of steel consists of quenching the steel in hot oil at 150-175C, and holding it in the quenching medium until the temperature of the workpiece is essentially uniform and equal to the temperature of the oil. This minimizes or eliminates distortion of the workpiece which occurs from unequal transformation rates normally found in conventional quenching.

A real warrior needs a real sword. Not some pansy short sword. Not some wimpy arming sword. I'm talking a REAL sword. Two fistfuls of 47-inch, marquenched-steel goodness. I'm talking a Tinker Pierce Longsword.

This 2-Handed Longsword is one of the most beautiful large swords that we currently offer. It is, of course, battle ready and fierce, The blade is an Oakeshott Type XVIIIa with a narrow fuller running approximately 1/3 it's length.

It's lovingly accurate in historical details. Even better than that, it's lovingly awesome for both cutting and thrusting. Why? You may ask. Because! is our answer. But you keep pressing us, don't you? You jut won't shut up about it, will you? Okay, so we tell you about the gradual taper to an acute point and the powerful central ridge. We tell you about the 5160 marquenched spring steel, and the brutal tempering process that it undergoes to reach 50+ Rockwell hardness. Is that enough for you tough guy? Cause I can go all day. All day. Especially about this sword.

Like most of the swords in the Tinker Pierce series, this sword is available in two styles: the sharp version, razor-honed for cutting practice, and the blunt version, thick-edged and rounded for sparring and theatrical work. Both versions are fully customizable; the blades, grips and even guards can be replaced.

The sharp version can cut like nobody's business, and the blunt trainer is perfect for studying the arts of the Liechtenauer tradition. The 5160 blade holds up remarkably well to full speed sparring sessions but may be replaced if ever needed, further reducing the long-term cost of these swords at their already exceptional value. Both versions come with a leather-wrapped wood scabbard.

So whaddaya say, toughie? You ready for a real sword?

About Tinker Pierce Swords:
Michael "Tinker" Pierce is one of the most renowned swordmakers in the world today. He has written numerous books on swords and swordmaking and his custom swords are coveted world-wide. He is, to put it another way, The Man.

We've been able to acquire a new line of fully-functional European swords designed by Tinker Pierce. Each weapon is forged under his guidance and supervision. Each weapon is built in much the same way as his custom pieces and must meet his stringent specifications. We actually have to fight him and his workers for some of these swords. That's how attached to them they become. It sucks because we usually lose two or three of our own employees every time they go over there. But we will stop at nothing to get you the best sword we can.

Tinker has developed these matching longswords to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast. They are available in two versions: a sharp version, made for cutting, and a blunted version for theatrical sparring and martial arts training. The swords meet Tinker's exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed, or to customize the sword. he grips are cord wrapped and leather covered wood and tapered for a comfortable grip. Each sword is supplied with a leather covered wood scabbard with metal throat and chape.

The quality that you get from these swords is unheard of at these prices. If you've been looking for a high-end sword but could not afford one before, we highly recommend these battle-ready, beautifully balanced and gorgeous swords. Please, don't make our employees have died in vain.

Curious about the Assasin's Creed? Ever wonder about the origin of the word 'Assassin'? Well, lots of other people have. There's a big dispute about the actual etymology of the word, but one well-accepted theory is that it stems from the word hashish. As in, stick-some-in-my-hooka-and-smoke-it hashish. Apparently the assassins of the Middle East used to partake in the "kind bud" to soothe their nerves before eliminating a target. If you play Assassin's Creed, or if you just admire the artwork, then you should probably know that Strongblade carries plenty of gear from the game.
