What better way to tell your opponent that he or she should "burn in hell" than by holding the starter flame in your hands? The Flametongue sword is the perfect weapon for the epically heroic character. The chosen one who has been granted a powerful artifact. The special warrior on whom everyone's hopes rest. Or just some dude who lit his sword on fire. Either way, it's a hell of a sword. The 36-inch sword features sinister, curving taloned guards and a flaming freakin' blade! Well, it looks like it's flaming anyway. We wanted to make it with real flames, but the Post Office people got all,like, "What the hell are you doing?" and the fire department was all like, "Holy crap! The Post Office is on fire!" And the cops were all like, "hold this sign and turn to the side while we get your mugshot." And our lawyers were like, "We quit." So we had to make it with fake flames instead of real one. Bunch of babies. Maintenance: We recommend that all latex weapons be treated occasionally with a silicone lubricant, like the one available below. The lubricant keeps the latex from drying out over time. It also allows for more realistic sliding of weapon against weapon. Although the term rapier has become synonymous with any narrow-bladed sword (particularly those with fancy hilts), the term rapier actually applied to only a select few types of swords. Rapiers were narrow (usually one and a quarter inches wide), quite long, fairly heavy, and usually had only a slight edge on them. The extremely long length of the rapiers made them a bit heavy and cumbersome, not at all the Errol Flynn or Zorro-type small-swords that most people think of.
