Johnny Depp's portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is arguably the most entertaining pirate role in history. Depp will be reprising his role this summer (2006) in the new Pirates of the Caribbean II: Dead Man's Chest. As in the first movie, he'll be swinging his trusty cutlass and firing his lethal flintlock.

This sword is a limited-edition, exacting replica of the cutlass that he uses in the new movie. So, if you wan't a pirate sword, why not get the official sword of the coolest pirate this side of the Dread Pirate Roberts?

This Jack Sparrow pirate sword is sure to be a collector's item for years to come (boy, did that sound slick and markety or what?). Master Replicas is only making 3,000 of these, which means that only about 50 people in each state will be able to own a Captain Jack Sparrow sword. And that's not including international sales and multiple item purchases. Those aren't very good odds. I mean, seriously... California alone has 33,871,648 people.

The Jack Sparrow sword comes with a breathtaking wall-mounting frame that is carved and embossed in the high-adventure style of the pirate days. The frame is weathered and antiqued to give it that authentic aged-look and the mounting surface is covered in a pale yellow burlap that evokes visions of sails, swashbucklers and sea foam (actual foam from the sea, mind you, not the seafoam color found in bridesmaid dresses and curtain shops).

But you didn't come all the way to this website to hear about frames and bridesmaids, did you laddie? Ya came to hear about SWORDS and blades and hilts and the like. Well, this sword won't disappoint. It's a historically accurate naval cutlass, weathered and scuffed to give a sense of age and authenticity. The blade is made from easy-care stainless steel; scuffed, marred and just generally aged to give the appearance of many victorious battles (as Captain Sparrow surely has had). Master Replicas didn't skimp on the construction of the blade: it has a full-tang, so you don't have to worry about it breaking apart in your hand when you swing it. They also put in a smooth fuller (blood-groove) along the backside of the blade (the dull side, for you landlubbers) to give the blade strength and lightness. The stainless steel has been acid etched in spots to mimic very light rust specks and wear.

The grip is hardwood wrapped with a fine black leather for a comfortable hold. The leather is lightly embossed with faded cross patterns, as if the once-elaborate patterns had been partially worn away by use.

The guard and pommel are made from a battered, rustic brass. The metal is rich and colorful under close inspection and has been artisitically "worn down" in the proper places.

Being a Limited Edition, the mounting frame comes with a numbered display plaque indicating which one of the swords you recieved (i.e. 12 of 3000). Mounted or slung at your side, Captain Jack Sparrow's sword is the perfect pirate weapon. Be one of the first people in your state to buy one, or be left out.

Small display plaque in image may differ slightly from actual display plaque.
