The true Japanese name for this sword would be:

(I think that's what it says. Although come to think of it, that might say "Objects in the mirror of this Toyota are closer than they appear" I was looking at my Corolla manual online while doing this and I may have pasted the wrong thing. So be it.)

Either way, it's truly a special weapon. Hidden in the scabbard are two miniature tanto knives (Kogatana), their handles jutting out on either side of the tsuba -- hidden in plain site as it were. The handles look like ornamental brackets or buckles; their true form is impossible to distinguish without drawing them out of their sheaths.

The imagination rolls endlessly when you think about the possible uses a samurai might have had for such weapons. Thrown or used in hand, these would have been lethal when weilded by a samurai. The dark Ninjas may well have had a use for such a sword too.

The katana itself is a stunning piece of craftsmanship. The Surgical Stainless Steel blade is light and polished to a mirror shine. Two-tone ABS cords (black and gold) wrap the grip and scabbard for a comfortable hold and a gold-plated minuki gleams at the end. And overall, the sword looks has a battle worn appearance to it, thanks to accessories cast from a specially crafted and weathered brass-plated metal.

The hidden kogatanas are made from the same mirror-polished surgical steel and feature gilded, brass-plated handles. Both slide into and out of the scabbard easily. The brackets formed by the handles of these knives actually make the katana look very cool. Like symbols of high rank, or cermenial ornaments. Even if yo never draw the knives, the katana has a sense of character unmatched by most.
