A truly remarkable weapon. This antiqued-silver-plated Imperial samurai sword is one of the best looking Katanas we've seen. It differs from other standard katanas in that it features a long, graceful sloping hilt and an antiqued-silver-plated decorative plating that extends outwards about six inches from the hamachi (the little step between the tang and the blade). The tsuka (binding on the hilt) is a high-quality binding cord that provides the right balance between grip and comfort.

The tsuba (hand guard) is also of antiqued-silver-plated, carved delicately for a truly regal finish. The tsukakashira (pommel area) shares this same silver-plating and carving, as do the accents on the aluminum Saya (scabbard). The Hamon (tempering line) is beautifully understated for a much more subtle and classy look.

If you're looking for a katana that's a step above the average samurai lot, then this may be your best bet. Elegant, light and lethal.

Although the term rapier has become synonymous with any narrow-bladed sword (particularly those with fancy hilts), the term rapier actually applied to only a select few types of swords. Rapiers were narrow (usually one and a quarter inches wide), quite long, fairly heavy, and usually had only a slight edge on them.
