If you're looking to fight like a Viking and you want to spend less than $1,500, this wonderful sword is probably the closest thing you will find to the real thing. Unless you have a time machine. In which case, you probably don't care about the price, because you'd be rich. And anyway, because of advances in metallurgy, the metal on this Hedemark sword is stronger than the metal in actual Viking swords from the past. Just sayin'.
Presenting, the Valiant Armoury Hedemark Viking Sword. Designed by Christian Fletcher, maker of $1,500 (and up) swords. The Hedemark may not be the same as his higher end swords, but it includes many of the same features and has his personal seal of approval. Not something he'd give without knowing for certain that this was a top-notch weapon.
The Hedemark is hand-forged, tempered and battle-ready. It has a fantastically intricate lobed pommel, and the short, flaring guards of classic viking swords.
The blade is a hand-forged, 1060 high-carbon steel, and it is a thing of beauty. Flawless and crisp. The grip is made from hardwood with a nifty shrunken-leather-over-cords wrap. The entire sword is put together solidly and held in place with a clever sunken bolt system that won't interfere with your maneuvers.
But let us pause a moment and consider the artwork that is the scabbard. This may be the finest piece of leatherwork we have seen. It features a narrow wooden bridge that is carved with Celtic/Norse patterns. The wooden bridge serves as the belt loop for the scabbard. Can you imagine it? Have you SEEN such awesomeness? Add the stylish steel tip and the wonderful construction of the scabbard in general and I think ... yes... yes I think I'm about to cry.
So buy this gorgeous, battle-ready weapon right now! RIGHT NOW! Or start working on that time machine.
