Cas-Hanwei Re-enactment Practical Single Hand Sword
Made for the re-enactor
Authentic look and feel
Complies with safety requirements

Our Practical broadswords are all based on authentically styled swords in our collection but they are tailored to meet the needs of re-enactment and stage combat. These very popular and affordable weapons feature authentic hilt styling, with fully tempered un-edged and un-pointed blades. They are designed to withstand rugged use while providing the level of safety required by many of today’s re-enactment societies. The blades are crafted from 1065 high-carbon steel, hardened to 50HRC, which restricts edge-notching to acceptable levels while providing resilience and protection against brittleness. While the blades are substantial, they are fullered to provide balance and good handling characteristics. They feature 1/16” wide edges and rounded tips for safety. The tangs are also substantial, with radiused corners at the blade shoulders and no welds. The end of the tang is riveted over the pommel, which both eliminates any possibility of inadvertent disassembly. The hardwood grips are leather-covered. The scabbards are fabricated in glass-filled resin, to eliminate swelling and to minimize blade corrosion problems, with belt rings that adjust to allow vertical or horizontal carry. The wood-grain finish is attractive, but most re-enactors will decorate the scabbard to match their persona. The Practical Single-Hand Sword is based on the Marshall sword, so named for one of England’s finest knights of the latter half of the 12th century. The sword is classically styled, with a cruciform hilt, wheel pommel and a ridged-and-fullered blade that is both stiff and surprisingly light. With a weight of less than 2 ˝ lbs., the sword can be wielded forcefully without undue wear and tear on the arm.

The Great War Longsword
The Spartans were reknowned for their ferocity and for their military strength and skill. Of the Greek city-states, the Spartans were one of the few who actually had a standing army with professional soldiers. (Most of the other city-states had sitting armies who would rarely stand at all. Okay, just jokes). The Spartans carried Spartan Spears in one hand and Spartan Shields in the other. They wore Spartan Helmets and Spartan Greaves, and bore Spartan swords at their sides. Coincidentally, Strongblade sells all of these.
