When the skirmish lines have broken and the enemy draws near, even the archer's have to join the melee. It's a Dark Recourse when the bowmen have to draw their swords.
Despite the name, this type of sword was also used by nobles as a small arming-type sword. This particular style is well suited to nobles, with it's dazzling shine, reddish hilt and mirrored pommel.
English archers were renowned for their strength throughout medieval Europe. In fact, it has been discovered that the skeletons of longbowmen were different than those of normal men. The shoulders and spines grew larger and thicker over time to allow them to pull back the tremendous weight of their drawstrings. It is this strength that made archers lethal with both a bow and--when the arrows ran out--with a sword or axe.
This European short sword is a beautifully weighted with nickel-chromed hilt, pommel and scabbard accents. The grip is tightly wrapped with a rich red copper wiring and the blade is Strongblade's rugged high-carbon steel.
Strong and durable, the sword is a fantastic piece of historical artwork. It needs to be held to truly appreciate the workmanship. Light and compact enough to be worn with almost any outfit. And you won't need an archer's strength to wield it.
