Only 250 Ever Made: All Steel with Display Frame

Hey, what's with the non-round Captain America shield, you may be asking. If this is the case, then you are clearly not a big Captain America fan. Or, your evil nemesis Dr. Horrible has stopped time with his freeze ray and clumped you on the head, giving you amnesia and forcing you to wander the earth with no knowledge of your latent superpowers or of Captain America's Heater Shield from the 1940s. Either way, you're missing out.

So, here's the deal (and I realize this will be going over old material for most of you): Joe Simon, the creator of the Captain America Character, originally envisioned the character with this shield. The character used the shield in the first Captain America comic book and has been used sporadically on and off throughout the life of the character.

As we've mentioned, this shield is extremely rare. Only 250 were ever made and many retailers are sold out. If you don't buy this shield, you're unpatriotic. Okay, just jokes of course. Had me one of them Dick Cheney moments. But this shield really is rare. And shouldn't last very long on the market.

The shield is a hand-hammered, lovingly crafted piece of steel artwork. Because it is hand hammered, there will be small imperfections -- swells in the metal, slight imperfections in the paint -- all signs that a human actually forged this shield and not some crazy machine that will probably help in the Robot Revolt of 2037.

The shield is a heater style, which is the style prefered by knights in the middle ages. Which is fitting since Captain America is pretty much a modern-day knight. Heater shields are shaped to provide valuable cover to head and torso, while still being light enough to allow fast movement.

This shield was made from the actual Marvel blueprints, so you know it's as accurate as it can get. It's all steel and features tough leather handles on the back for a perfect, comfortable and sturdy grip.

The shield is 30 inches high and about 24 inches wide, with the exact curvature and dimensions as the original. It weighs about 9lbs and is very high quality. Captain America's heater Shield comes with a sweet mounting frame that is meant to look like the lid of a top-secret U.S. Army supply crate. It also includes a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity. Did we mention that only 250 of these were made?
