Product Description
Okay, this is a gorgeous sword with a small identity problem. You see, it bears the features of several different civilizations, without really committing to any of them. It has the straight blade and rounded pommel of a Roman Gladius or Spatha. But it alsohas a slight flair to the blade, some angles to the pommel, and thin, slightly sloped gaurds, which would make it a celtic sword. And yet, Most of these features could easily be found on Greek or Viking swords as well. So, which is it, then? How’s this: Whichever you like.
Whether you’re personifying a Roman legionnaire, a Celtic warrior, A Spartan hoplite or a Viking raider, this sword will fit right in with your motif. It features a broad, straight blade, a very small crossguard, a straight grip, and an angular lozenge pommel. The blade has a wide fuller that traverses through most of it and gives the sword a very savage look. The guard is small, which gives emphasis to the blade, and is available in steel or bronze. The pommel, also available in steel or bronze, is a single lobe, tapered toward the end of the grip.
The grip, like those on all Palnatoke swords is cored by ergonomic carbon fiber, surrounded by multidensity foam and carbon structural supports, and topped with a comfortable suede wrap.
This is a fantastically versatile and aggressive looking sword. It looks great with just about any costume you can think of and is as rugged and durable as it is versatile.
About Palnatoke Swords
In every industry, there is one company that towers above all others. Among sword vendors, that company of course is Strongblade.com =D. But among makers of latex swords / foam swords, the undisputed master is Palnatoke. The company, based in Denmark, is responsible for pushing the envelope in technology, aesthetics and safety.
I realize your attention span is starting to wander, so I'll just say this last bit about the company and move on to the swords themselves: The company was founded seven years ago by a Danish engineer who became famous as a special effects artist in the movie industry. This engineer met up with the insanely popular Danish LARP (Live Action Role Playing) movement and realized that, with his background, he could make weapons that were much better than what was being used. He followed through, creating Palnatoke and forever changing the world of latex swords and boffer swords. Palnatoke now makes the best latex swords in the world, and has added some of the finest leather accessories ever mass-produced.
Once a Palnatoke sword is designed, it is put through a minimum of six months of testing and refining before it is allowed to hit the market. These tests include moderate and extreme stress simulations, field testing, and SAT tests to ensure that the sword can get into a good college (lawyer's note: That last one is categorically not true. The swords ocassionally take the ACT tests, not SATs, and it is not a requirement of Palnatoke's tests)(editor's note: Our writer has gone insane. He is impersonating a lawyer and writing about swords going to college. Please ignore him. Palnatoke swords cannot take academic tests).
Palnatoke pioneered the use of round carbon-fiber cores in the mass-market, a technology that makes their sword astoundingly strong, flexible and springy. The cores feature special structural reinforcements around pressure areas like the joint between guard and blade. This prevents the sword from breaking or folding at areas of high stress.
Palnatoke uses a proprietary multi-density foam. This last, complex sounding sentence means that they use a small layer of dense foam around the core and a larger, softer layer of foam to make the shape of the sword. This makes for a very safe sword that can withstand incredible amounts of punishment. This also makes for a unique sword amongst the sea of other manufacturers who simply cast a mold, fill it with one layer of lower quality foam and call it a day.
Palnatoke swords feature another design feature unique to them: A Vari-flex Tip design. This is a design feature in the tip that allows them to bend gradually rather than abruptly. Doing this prevents stress on the tip and makes it almost impossible to cause creasing or weak spots that could lead to breaks.
I could go on and on. And come to think of it, I will for one more paragraph, because I forgot to mention the proprietary paint used on these swords. Palnatoke uses a revolutionary painting technique on these swords that is engineered to reflect light exactly as real metal would. The paint is also designed to protect the sword, providing a strong barrier that stretches slightly with the flex of the sword.
If you don't get the idea by now, we're very excited to be offering these swords. At Strongblade, we prefer to sell the products that we manufacture; this ensures that what we sell is up to our standards. So, when we decide to sell another company's products, its most likely because that company is the best in the industry. This is clearly true of Palnatoke. Buy their weapons and you are buying the highest quality latex weapon that we have ever seen.
