41 Inch Hand Forged Katana with Decorative Tsuba

This sword was named after Amakuni Yasutsuna (天國 安綱). He is a legendary swordsmith attributed to have created the first single-edged tachi (longsword) with edge curvature, around 700 AD in Yamato Province, Japan. He was the primary swordsmith in a group utilized by the Emperor to make weaponry for his warriors. Legend has it that the double-edged katana, Kogarasu Maru was forged by Amakuni. His son, Amakura, was the successor of his work.

This hand forged katana has full tang carbon steel construction, the tsuba features a raised relief samurai with arm held over head (on both sides!). The blade has a brass collar and wave style hamon. The white handle is black cord wrapped with gold color embellishments.
