We have run out of stock on these, but have a few remaining that have very small dents in the bell or small gouges in the leather grip. We have dropped the price on these to reflect the small imperfections.
Quartermasters were a rare breed. Chosen by the crew, they walked a fine line between serving the captain and representing the crew. Their fighting prowess was usually among the best on the ship, and they could often carry out any task on the ship as well as any sailor or officer. Many quartermasters were often former military officers, and would have brought a sword similar to this one on board their new ship when putting on their pirate blacks.
The hand stitching on the grip and elegant bell guard on this weapon would have made it an expensive sword in its day, so only the higher ranking officers would have used them. The spacious brass basket and compact curved blade made it ideal for ship-based combat.
This weapon is very similar to the Strongblade SBA-BRIGANTINE cutlass. The Quartermaster has a slightly different grip, a scabbard made of leather instead of leather-wrapped wood, and a rounded nut on the end of the hilt to secure the tang.
This sword is both light and comfortable. It's light enough to swing quickly and sits quite comfortably in the hand. The stitched leather grip is well padded and very comfortable to hold and the polished brass bell provides an extra bit of "umph" to any uppercut thrown at opponents. The blade is a compact, hand-forged, high-carbon steel.
Comes with a black leather scabbard. Brass accents at the throat and tip complement the sword and add a touch of Officer's class.
